Larkin, PE; Facade & Roofing Team Leader Steven Z. Tingir; and Chief Administrative Officer Christopher B. Walsh. Although they are new as partners, the three are old hands and familiar faces: Between them they have a total of 91 years of experience in the engineering and architectural industry, 76 of them at RAND.

Michael Larkin, one of RAND’s original employees when the firm was founded in 1987, has been the lead Project Engineer on dozens of RAND’s renovation and design projects. With his extensive experience conducting facade inspections and developing programs for their repair, Michael will help RAND’s clients achieve a safe status for their buildings during the upcoming 8th Cycle of New York City’s Facade Inspection & Safety Program.

Steven Tingir, who joined RAND in 1992, has directed the design and construction administration of RAND’s largest projects, including a $28 million Capital Improvement Program currently underway at Franklin Plaza Apartments in East Harlem and an $11 million facade re-skinning and balcony repair program completed at Dayton Beach Park No. 1 in Rockaway Beach. With his detailed knowledge of facade and waterproofing systems and his expertise on technical specifications, Steven is the guiding force on every one of RAND’s exterior repair projects.

As RAND’s has grown over the years, we are fortunate to have had Christopher Walsh’s steady management throughout. Also one of RAND’s original employees, Christopher directs the company’s financial and technology operations, both of which have come a long way since our early days. Most recently, Christopher directed the implementation of RAND’s in-house program ABSolution, a customized company-wide software system that integrates the firm’s project management, billing, sales, and human resources functions, and he oversees its ongoing upgrade and expansion.

"Michael, Steven, and Chris have been an integral part of RAND's brain trust from early on, and they've helped bring us to where we are today," said RAND's founder and President Stephen A. Varone, AIA. "As partners they will continue to lead the company as we undertake larger and more extensive projects, and prepare for the next level of growth for the firm."

"I've worked with Michael, Steven, and Chris since my first day at RAND, and they have been invaluable to the firm's success," said RAND Principal and Vice President Peter E. Varsalona, PE, who leads the firm's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Team. "With their experience and expertise, they have not only enabled us to provide quality services to property owners and managers, but they've also groomed a new generation of RAND staff who will serve us well into the future."

Congratulations, Michael, Steven, and Christopher.
