Last Thursday night, RAND Engineering & Architecture, DPC celebrated its 30-year anniversary with a party for employees and clients at 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar. RAND President Stephen Varone kicked off the celebration with a champagne toast and speech honoring guests:\u00a0<\/span>\u201c30 years in the take-no-prisoners NYC building industry is a significant achievement. RAND's success and longevity are rooted in <\/span>building strong, trusting relationships with our clients and our great group of professionals, who take pride in their work and care about their clients and colleagues.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Thirty years ago this month, Stephen Varone founded RAND just in time for the October 1987 Black Monday stock market crash. From our humble recession-era beginnings with just a handful of employees in a raw office space in what was then a gritty Chelsea neighborhood, RAND is now an award-winning, 90-person, full-service engineering and architecture firm (still in the same Chelsea building, but now on three fully-renovated floors). RAND has won two Lucy G. Moses Preservation awards for its historic preservation work, is a seven-time winner of Crain\u2019s New York Business\u2019s Best Places to Work award, and has been named one of Inc. 5000's Fastest Growing Companies in America five times. RAND has also instituted an equity stock purchase plan, with 42 employees now owning shares in the company<\/span><\/p>\n

Since 1987, RAND has serviced more than 5,500 properties in the New York City metropolitan area. Notable projects include Bohemian National Hall<\/a>, the Algonquin Hotel<\/a>, Fashion Institute of Technology<\/a>, 901 Broadway<\/a>, Rutgers Presbyterian Church<\/a>, and the Ziehl\/Starr Residence<\/a>. RAND\u2019s expertise encompasses a full range of engineering and architectural disciplines, including exterior restoration; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; structural engineering; forensic surveys; architectural design; and energy services. As the firm has grown, we\u2019ve added many specialties to our portfolio of services, such as historic preservation, Special Inspections, benchmarking, infrared thermography, emergency rapid response, industrial rope access, and more, giving our clients greater access to a range of services, better building operations, and cost and time savings.<\/span><\/p>\n
