Water, electricity, gas, and fuel or steam usage are collected and tracked by the city to help owners use less energy and save money. Normally due on May 1, benchmarking reports for the 2017 calendar year are now due\u00a0December 31, 2018.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mid-Sized Buildings (Between 25,000 and 50,000 SF)<\/strong><br \/>\nLast October, NYC passed\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001YxQzQPyrOYMDmxJe5QmHI7wNmQCzJQE2hLS99SwVm-oJN3ixXRb9UZz4V_NQxHjGmZJvT_cmPXuuTbhfQp93Y8qkDvxAyjPgS_qD-6nAfHF-341jks4GiDA71fsa-oUcD0b9ZJxjWZTfFx2YHLm2GOn6RChlyuC66Ggae7hISAOq0tLVy0kl9bn8rgHYAYQHUVBkzKINrnZYNCuJ0uzil6cH8_Obhse5-ro73m0GRgA=&amp;c=9N88HU1QfQ4Yq95Zf81Ea_Ca-px9Eyl1Y6UGA_ySHD97V-xy7WLKKA==&amp;ch=vv3i_X-JLpjIMR_8Sf5ScFXdpTG_ilbt7yicu8N1tt9pvFUk3TkgAg==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Local Law 133\/16<\/a>, which expands the list of buildings required to benchmark to include buildings\u00a025,000 to 50,000 square feet in size.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to submit data from the 2017 calendar year is February 1, 2019.\u00a0To submit benchmarking reports, owners need to register with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and enter\u00a0utilities data from January 1 to December 31 of the previous year into the EPA's\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001YxQzQPyrOYMDmxJe5QmHI7wNmQCzJQE2hLS99SwVm-oJN3ixXRb9UZz4V_NQxHjGQYKUVQIc0Z7hc2818pk58YiNq9VGt7FpUaXHEeuphpLEjVowcyq_ALXZBNruNjiW3LPntVVWsNdaURagexmFDbzL7nFTX2QV3bC_j0SAJzZyyzgMToqLvAh6-az55N08Nepsn5jXKaZDw183G7v5aw==&amp;c=9N88HU1QfQ4Yq95Zf81Ea_Ca-px9Eyl1Y6UGA_ySHD97V-xy7WLKKA==&amp;ch=vv3i_X-JLpjIMR_8Sf5ScFXdpTG_ilbt7yicu8N1tt9pvFUk3TkgAg==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energy Star Portfolio Manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Avoid Violations By Submitting on Time<\/strong><br \/>\nAny property on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001YxQzQPyrOYMDmxJe5QmHI7wNmQCzJQE2hLS99SwVm-oJN3ixXRb9UVMxyVHpAtS9dlUK2JFCaSAxnabqw9p9jp_BnvbYEJUamwVUGWKqKeRJL9bsJKpzheE22yeeE7cMOe4O1o2W-3yF5gjG2khBnEuMpuMByMmycCNObllOzXDeF8YZIOrjbY46uwz4QtIdA-sEwj9O2tQrDqJ71iMHzzoP65Zhw6qSLm5qeMpEeQZxoxWE-fQhJQ==&amp;c=9N88HU1QfQ4Yq95Zf81Ea_Ca-px9Eyl1Y6UGA_ySHD97V-xy7WLKKA==&amp;ch=vv3i_X-JLpjIMR_8Sf5ScFXdpTG_ilbt7yicu8N1tt9pvFUk3TkgAg==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covered Buildings List<\/a>\u00a0that has not submitted a benchmarking report by the new deadline will receive a Notice of Violation from the DOB and be fined $500.
