Since 2020, owners of buildings that are subject to NYC\u00a0Benchmarking Law<\/a> must post energy efficiency letter grades issued by the city every year per\u00a0Local Law 33 of 2018<\/a>\u00a0as amended by\u00a0Local Law 95 of 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n As mandated by NYC Benchmarking Law, owners of buildings on the Covered Buildings List<\/a> (buildings over 25,000 square feet) are required to submit an annual analysis of their energy and water consumption to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) online benchmarking tool by May 1 of every year. Based on this reporting, buildings are assigned energy efficiency scores rated from A to F.<\/p>\n Building Energy Efficiency Rating labels are available in the NYC Department of Buildings'\u00a0DOB NOW Public Portal<\/a>\u00a0annually on October 1.
