RAND is proud to announce Project Architect Valerie Landriscina, RA<\/strong> has been named Professional Women in Construction 2021 20 Under 40 Outstanding Women in Construction<\/a> award recipient! Professional Women in Construction (PWC) is a woman based non-profit organization, whose focus is to support, advance, connect, and promote diversity within the architecture, engineering, and related industries.<\/p>\n As Project Architect on RAND Engineering & Architecture\u2019s Facade & Roofing Team, Valerie Landriscina provides design, specification, and construction administration services on exterior repair and upgrade projects. Her projects include Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP, formerly known as Local Law 11\/98) inspections and repairs; roof replacements; balcony, parapet, and bulkhead repairs; building evaluations; leak investigations and infrared surveys; window and door replacements; and historic preservation.<\/p>\n In her time at RAND, Valerie, in short order, earned her professional license as a Register Architect, became a New York City Department of Buildings Qualified Exterior Wall Inspector (QEWI), and earned her certification as a Level 1 Infrared Thermographer. Since working at RAND, she has managed over $45 million in exterior repair, restoration and capital improvement work.<\/p>\n As Project Architect at RAND, one of Valerie\u2019s passions lies in historic preservation projects. Her work at 153 Lincoln Place, a 10-unit condominium with severe leakage issues that was built in 1887 in Park Slope Historic District, won the 2017 Park Slope Civil Council\u2019s Evelyn and Everett Ortner Preservation Award for excellence in exterior restoration.<\/p>\n In the past few years, she has worked on restoring several Finnish cooperatives in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn including 549-561 41st<\/sup> Street, 702-712 45th <\/sup>Street, and the first and oldest housing cooperative in New York City, 816 & 826 43rd<\/sup> Street, also known as the Alku & Alku Toinen. Two of these projects benefited from the New York State Historic Homeowner Rehabilitation Tax Credit program administered through the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. In addition, Valerie spearheaded the efforts to nominate Alku & Alku Toinen to the National Register of Historic Places, resulting in the listing of the property in 2019.<\/p>\n As an architect under 40, we feel Valerie has very much distinguished herself at RAND and in our community as an expert in her field and as a leader who cares as deeply about her work as the clients she works with.<\/p>\n <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" RAND is proud to announce Project Architect Valerie Landriscina, RA has been named Professional Women in Construction 2021 20 Under 40 Outstanding Women in Construction award recipient!
