If unsafe conditions are discovered, the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) will provide guidance to make corrective repairs without issuing any violations or penalties, as long as the repairs are made promptly.<\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\"><\/div>\n<div align=\"justify\">By law, New York City property owners are required to properly maintain their buildings and outdoor structures, such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/randpc.com\/blog\/retainingwallsqueens\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">retaining walls<\/a>, decks, porches, and signs, in safe and code-compliant condition. Over time, outdoor structures in particular can weaken and deteriorate from weather, age, and lack of adequate maintenance, so it is critical to regularly inspect these structures to ensure public safety.
