The deadline to post current energy efficiency letter grades issued by the city is coming up on October 31.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As mandated by NYC Benchmarking Law<\/a>, owners of buildings on the Covered Buildings List<\/a> (buildings over 25,000 square feet) are required to submit an annual analysis of their energy and water consumption to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) online benchmarking tool by May 1 of every year. Based on this reporting, buildings are assigned energy efficiency scores rated from A to F.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Building Energy Efficiency Rating labels are accessible starting October 1 each year in the NYC Department of Buildings'\u00a0DOB NOW Public Portal<\/a>. The labels must be printed and displayed in a conspicuous location near each public entrance. Failure to comply will result in a DOB violation and an annual fine of $1,250.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

To Print Your Label<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Go to the DOB NOW Public Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Scroll down to the Building Energy Efficiency tab. Click \u201cGet your Building Energy Efficiency Rating\u201d.<\/li>\n
  3. Fill in your Borough, Block and Lot numbers then click \u201cSearch\u201d.<\/li>\n
  4. Click the green print button under \u201cAction\u201d.<\/li>\n
  5. Fill in the information requested and click \"Submit.\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
