Fortunately, the Department of Buildings (DOB) has just announced a way to reduce those fines by filing early in Cycle 10, which began on February 21, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On February 25, 2025, the DOB released a new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/assets\/buildings\/pdf\/facadecycle-sn.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">notice<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> confirming that buildings marked as \u201cNRF\u201d (No Report Filed) for Cycle 9 can submit a Sub-cycle Override Request and file immediately, without waiting for their assigned Cycle 10 filing window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This new option allows building owners and property managers to stop accumulating civil penalties - $1,000 per month and $5,000 per year for noncompliance - that can exceed $17,000 annually, and bring their properties back into compliance with facade safety regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s Changed? Key Takeaways from the DOB\u2019s April 2025 Notice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before this update, it was unclear whether NRF-status buildings could take action before their Cycle 10 window opened.
